Shopify store creation and customization

About the client

Alba Thyment Ltd. is a Polish family-owned pharmaceutical and cosmetics company. Since 1913, it has been known for Argol® Essenza Balsamica, produced in Poznań. The company values natural ingredients, modern management, and work-life balance, ensuring high quality in business and health.

The client already has a store that sells successful products in the Polish market and he wanted to develop a new store for the U.S. market. The requirements for the store included references with features and extra functionalities to be replicated, as well as design guidelines and marketing strategies to be implemented. Therefore, first of all, we suggested starting with analyzing the information provided and working out the development plan and estimate for the project to make it clear and reasonable within the client’s expectations.

Team

The project team consisted of a Project Manager and Head of Delivery in the discovery stage, and a Project Manager, Front-End Developers plus QA engineer in the development and delivery stages.

Discovery phase - Theme selection

The project started with the discovery phase during which we thoroughly analyzed the provided references, created the list of necessary features, and based on this list we selected 4 Shopify themes to choose from. Then we created the development store and installed the theme the client chose. In the next stage, we moved to the development stage and started carefully working step by step on each page and section customizing them according to the client’s requests.

Development stage -  Store setting up and theme customization 

At this stage, we started by importing the products and content from the current store and creating the basic structure of the pages. Then we continued customizing each section according to the references provided so that the store's overall appearance became more appealing and exhibited the high-end vibe of the products. We needed to ensure the selected theme reflected the vibe of Alba 1913's brand so the goal was achieved by gradual customization of each page and section, and fruitful work with the client's team. In addition, new pages were created, customized, and added to the main menu. We also developed a new section with credibility badges, the client needed this section to win the favor of a new audience because it is a new brand in the U.S. market and it is necessary to convey the ideas of the traditions and values of the family business.

Development stage - Apps installing and setting up

During the development, we integrated several apps from the Appstore to enhance functionality and connect with external platforms (Amazon, Eva, Instafeed, Reviews).

Development stage - Website loading speed optimization

During the development process, we widely used best practices, which allowed us not only to keep the high-performance results of the initial theme but also to improve them. We regularly monitored store performance using the Google tool and improved loading speed by writing semantic and clean code to ensure a seamless and fast user experience. We also optimized the product images to improve download time.

Delivery - Final store setting, transferring to the client, and publication
